The Deputy Public Relations Officer of the Kuros Riba State Police Force, Igri Ewa said that the police continue to deliver complaints from Calabar to the abducted Commissioner for Women Affairs, Mrs Gertrude Njar.
It was reported that Njar was kidnapped on Wednesday morning near her house in Calabar.
Ewa said in an interview: “We are blocking all the tunnels in Calabar South, and we have carried out raids that have led to the rescue of the commissioner. We have deployed our people, including strategic players to track down the suspected kidnappers. We still cannot confirm how far they have gone.”
In the meantime, the information commissioner, Eric Anderson confirmed that the car of the government official that was stolen was found and recovered.
Sources said that the security forces who were chasing her abductors found her shoes on the bank of the stream.
The police spokesman added: “We are also making efforts to rescue Kenneth Abang from Boki local government where he was kidnapped along with his brother, Eunice.”
Reports say that Abang and his brother were kidnapped on the Calabar to Ugep highway a few days ago when they were on their way to their father’s funeral. At least 21 people were reported to have been kidnapped in this way in the last two months.
