Guild confirms release of kidnapped actors
Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) has confirmed that Cynthia Okereke, and Clemson Cornel(Agbogidi), were released. They were taken from Enugu State.
Monalisa Chinga Coker, Guild’s Director, Communication, released a statement Wednesday in which the Guild informed the public that the abductors had been “touched” by the spirit God and set the Thespians loose.
This statement stated, in part: “This is to inform you that Cynthia Okereke, and Clemson cornel, the kidnapped actors have been released, unscathed.” Ejezie Rolleas, the National President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, exclaimed that the abductors had released them, and they were unharmed.
“The guild has organized psychological support and medical check-ups for victims.
“On behalf of the families of the victims, the National President expressed deep appreciation to Nigerians in general and Nollywood for their support and prayers during this difficult period.
“He encouraged members to be more security conscious, both on and off the movie sets, and to take preventative measures for their security at all costs.”
Okereke & Agbodigidi were reported missing Saturday by their family after they couldn’t be reached from their film set.
After the kidnappers reached out to them, they demanded a $100,000 ransom. Ejezie Rolleras, the Guild’s National President stated that this could not happen in an interview with Sunday Scoop.
Rollas says that even though a sum of N1.2million had been raised, the abductors ridiculed their efforts.
