Reality TV star, Cross Okonkwo has berated Nigeria’s first lady, Aisha Buhari , over a social media post celebrating the graduation of her daughter-in-law from a British university.
Aisha Buhari took to her Instagram page to celebrate her daughter-in-law, who graduated with first class honors in architectural science from Coventry University, in the UK.
The first lady posted a photo of herself, her son, Yusuf, and his wife, Zahra, and captioned it, “Congratulations to Mrs. Zahra B. Buhari for your diploma with honors in architectural sciences. Wishing you all the best. ”
Aisha’s message, however, did not sit well with a number of Nigerians who ‘marked as insensitive.
Ex-Big Brother Naija Season 6 roommate Cross also used his Twitter account to ridicule the president’s wife for the job.
He pointed out that she is a mother to Nigerian citizens, and since students in public universities are currently out of school, celebrating the graduation of her in-laws would be the impression that she is rubbing it on the faces of Nigerian students affected by the prolonged strike.
“For me, it is very insensitive my . You are the mother of the nation and more than % of your children are not going to school atm and just because one of your biological children finished school. What’s cool and what’s not. But don’t come online and rub it in your other kids’ faces.
It’s not kool and it’s very sad for me. All children in Nigeria 🇳🇬 should be celebrated as you celebrate your daughter. I am lucky because my mother did her best to send me to school. What about those who have no mother. You must be their mother. Mother of the nation🙏”. He wrote.
