If you want to store your favourite hi-res photographs and videos on the go, a Sandisk Extreme Portable SSD could be just what you’re looking for. My short but amazing experience using the Sandisk Extreme Portable drive would interest you, let’s dive in…
The Product Purchase and Unboxing
In preparation for my three-day vacation with my friends, I wrote a list of things that would make my trip comfortable and memorable. An external storage device was the first on my scale of preference because I can’t afford to lose any of my pictures and videos from the vacation. A short trip to Digital Point’s page on Instagram made my storage decision easy. I ordered for the Sandisk Extreme portable SSD at an affordable price because it was the perfect fit for my vacation.
The drive comes in a black box with a tamper proof adhesive tape for protection with the device neatly laid in a white box. The box also contains the necessary accessories which made it effective for use. The accessories include – a USB Type C to USB Type C cable, a USB Type C to USB Type A adapter and the warranty guide.
Good things indeed, come in small sizes! Just like the name depicts, the solid-state drive comes in a compact pocket-sized design, smaller than a smartphone. It is handy and fits easily into a pocket. The dimension of the extreme portable SSD drive is 96.2mm x 49.55mm x 8.85mm (L x W x H).
Whether you’re a videographer, photographer, travel enthusiast like me or just someone who needs to store files on a handy device, you need to get your hands on the extreme portable SSD because it’s a reliable digital companion.
The Performance and My Experience
As a storage device equipped with a USB 3.1 Type-C connector, a USB Type-C to Type-C cable and a Type-C to Type-A adapter, it was able to work with my PC and Samsung A32 efficiently. This drive also allowed the easy and superfast transfer speed while uploading and offloading files through it up to 550MB/s read speeds.
Another exciting thing about the SSD drive is the presence of SanDisk SecureAccess 3.0.1. A software that enables users to create a private vault for storing sensitive and private files. The vault folder is password protected and files encrypted with 128-bit AES encryption. The software can be installed in simple steps by just following the instructions. After installing the software, I was rest assured that my photos and videos won’t be accessed by an intruder. With the vault, all digital files cannot be accessed except the password of the vault is provided.
The SanDisk SSD has an IP-55 rating which makes it water and dust resistance. This basically gave me the chance to take it everywhere and anywhere. It also has a shock and vibration resistant solid-state core that withstands up to a 2- meter (6.56 feet drop) so that gives a bit of insurance that your hard drive won’t be damaged if dropped.
