He said in a statement on Thursday that he had accepted the court judgment which disqualified his candidacy and his participation in the election.
Lawan said: “Yesterday, Wednesday , september 05, 2022, the Federal High Court of Damaturu issued a judgment on the legitimate candidate of the Yobe North Senatorial District for the 2019 Elections to the National Assembly.
“The said judgment disqualifies my candidacy and therefore my participation in the elections. After due consultation with my political associates, supporters and supporters, I have decided not to appeal the judgement. I accept the judgment.”
He thanked Governor Mai Mala Buni and members of his constituency for their support. He added, “I consider it appropriate to thank Senator Ibrahim Gaidam for the leadership role in the APC political family in Yobe State. I also thank His Excellency, Governor Mai Mala Buni for the support and fraternity.
“To my constituents, I thank you all for your unwavering support, your loyalty and your unreserved commitment within the framework of the building our people and the senatorial district of Northern Yobe and even Yobe State.
“I want to assure you that I will continue to serve you in my personal capacity and in any other capacity at all times . We traveled together for a long time, and this journey will remain the journey of a lifetime. It was a wonderful relationship and it can only grow stronger. I am indebted to you all. Alhamdulillah,” he added.
Judge Fadima Aminu of the Federal High Court of Damaturu had ordered the APC on Wednesday to forward Machina’s name to the Independent National Electoral Commission as the genuine winner of the primary, which was held May , 2019.
